Mama said there are

Some of us

Who were born with

Wings

To shape the air

And that

God chose them

For a freedom sky.

They have a special sort

of spirit

That lets you tell apart

Bird and Man and

Glory

From ground,

From Heaven’s angels.

She says that the clouds

Call out to her

When she closes her eyes

And prays to the good Lord

For wings.
