Often

I stand in your doorways

And wonder

How many stories have started

And ended

In these thresholds

I want to

Bookmark here

And come back

When I'm braver

And ready

For the next chapter

I don't like endings

Beginnings make me anxious

Why can't we live

In the story

When the characters

Already know each other

When the villain

Doesn't exist

And the world is safe

Every day

Nothing closed

Everything open

For all to see

Why can't we live

In the threshold?
