Take up Space

Take up Space

Model: Marjorie Joly

"I'm just trying to learn how to take up space with my body," Marjorie told me in between outfit changes.

It was her first time modeling (surprise, huh?!) and the first time I had been out to shoot in a couple of weeks. I was so inspired and motivated by her words. For a while, I felt like I was fighting to avoid being swallowed by spaces I was in, but I now realize that I am a force, too.

This photo story represents the black woman who is maximizing her space in the world. The woman who is taking "no" for a "there's something better."

The black woman who is claiming her greatness in every room she steps in.
